The Melcom Care Foundation, the charity wing of the Melcom Group has donated office furnishings to the new Public Affairs Office of the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) Regional Command of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS).
The donation which forms part of the foundation’s 30th anniversary included items such as two executive office desks, two swivel chairs, a television set, one office cabinet, a water dispenser, a wall clock and a Mi-Fi Speaker.
Presenting the items, the Communications Director of the Melcom Group of Companies, Mr. Godwin Avenorgbo explained that there was the need to support the GIS because there was a commonality between the media and the GIS. This he said was gatekeeping for the general safety of citizens.
Mr. Avenorgbo advised that as a country there was the need to uphold safety at all times, therefore “we thought it wise to support institutions ensuring safety within our borders”. He congratulated the GIS for their role of keeping the country safe at all times.
The Regional Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Immigration (ACI), Edith Arhin Penelope, thanked Melcom for the kind gesture and promised the items would be put in good use. |
